Video: Windows XP based mobile – XpPhone booting up
We’ve just been sent this video by the makers of the XpPhone, the world’s first mobile phone to run Windows XP. The clip below shows the device being booted up, it is exactly the same as a mobile internet device, its got a nice sliding QWERTY which means many users will be able to use it for IM, social networking while on the go. The device is by no means slim though, it looks to be approximately the size of an Nintendo DS.

Amazon Kindle for PC now available – read from your computer
Not quite yet ready for Mac but for PC users, you can now download Amazon’s Kindle PC software free of charge. Though the software is free, you will of course still need to pay in order to read Amazon Kindle books on your PC.
Microsoft officially launches Windows 7
Its arrived everyone, the inevitable. Microsoft’s latest OS update in the last three years, how many of you have been looking forward to it? Microsoft has just held an event where Windows 7 officially gets on the way. For those thinking of making the update, you must be aware that there is no support for direct upgrade from Windows XP, only Windows Vista.

Free! Microsoft offering Windows 7 to all users for a year

Microsoft is to start offering effectively from tomorrow (5th May) all users free access to Windows 7 for one full year. Some of you who have friends that are MSDN or TechNet subscribers may already realise that they have been given this privileged access.
