A-DATA has launched the industry’s first 1m 30 minute water and shock resistant HDDs aka SH93. If you’re actively involved in outdoor extreme sports or if you’re kind of like Bear Grylls but are worred about putting important data in a USB memory stick while you’re abseiling, the SH93 could suit your needs perfectly.
To be available in 250GB, 320GB, 500GB and 640GB, these external HDDs feature a molded rubber-plastic case and special cushion materials making them both waterproof and shock resistant. In terms of toughness, they also meet the military’s MIL-STD-810F standard for drop resistance. Continue reading »
I don’t think we have ever come across something as tough and rugged as this. The new ioSafe Solo external hard drives are not only just waterproof (something that many external HDDs are now claiming to be able to do) but also fire proof! If you’ve ever lost photos or videos from a defective memory card, you will know what that aching feeling is like.
Say you had some confidential data or valuble photos / videos that you want to keep safe but you’re worried about when your old PC hard drive might suddenly just not boot up again – in this case you might just consider any branded external HDD, however the problem with these are that they’re not safe from physical abuse, in other words disaster protection. This is where the Solo excels above others we’ve seen in the past.
If you’re the type of person that likes to get in touch with the great outdoors when you take a vacation or make a weekend excursion, then you’ll likely need a camera that can keep up with you and not end up a pile of useless shards by the end of the trip. While most camera can resist a few bumps and drops, most can’t handle serious jostling or dives underwater without a host of potentially expensive repairs. There are a few simple point and shoots on the market for the amateur photographer that combine quality photography with the ability to take just about any kind of abuse you throw at them.

Is the Sonim XP3 Quest absolutely indestructable? Its been claimed by Sonim to be one of the most durable mobile phones you can get your hands on. Waterproof, shockproof, temperature proof, dust proof, you name it! Check out the video after the break when CNET puts it on the chopping board (well, not literally)…
For those who lived in the warmer parts of the globe, especially those who can enjoy the sun and the beaches throughout the year or for vacationers on the move during the summer months. The Korean made Dicapac promises to turn your old bland digital camera waterproof almost instantly so that you don’t have to worry about your camera suffering water or sand damages whilst taking photos of loved ones on the beach or at the fun filled water park.
Before you guys check out this video, if you have a LG Crystal GD900, don’t go throwing yours into the fish tank! Even though it may seem like the same phone, it is in fact somewhat different. The one swimming along side with the fish in this video has actually been modified with a touch of transparent food membrane, giving it basically a waterproof case.
