Its been a good few years since the well known good old Volkswagen Beetle was refreshed. Today at the New York Auto Show, this is exactly what VW decided to unveil, the objective was simple and as quoted below by VW’s global marketing director Luca de Meo.
Bring back the spirit of the original, i.e., make it affordable, tough, and easy to use; reconnect with the emotion of the car; and bring the shape and concept of the original into the 21st century.
Apparently the new redesign has been in the works since 2007 where they took the original beetle and completely redesigned it from scratch, it may not look very different from the ones which we see out on the streets at present. But there have been a number of subtle differences to its shape to make it more appealing to not just women, while trying best to maintain its traditional distinct looks.
It is not Volkswagen who has done this discovery though it is their own Beetle on which this new discovery has been tested so Volkswagen is enjoying the free publicity. Humanity has been continuously looking for alternative fuels to power their gadgets as we all know that one day earth will run short of non-renewable fuel, ie oil. Thinking on the same lines, a UK based company namely GENeco has come up with bio fuel which they tested on the costly Volkswagen Beetle and their experiment seems to have been a success. The bio gas which they used to run the Beetle was actually made from human waste which is surely an eye catcher.
Volkswagen has debuted its Up! Lite concept car at the 2009 LA Auto Show. It looks very cool, metallic and looks to sport quite abit of tech on the inside too. With four seats, the Up! Lite offers enough room for young couples and their dog (or two children), but its strange these days why automakers can’t put in another seat to make it a five seater.
