Since the news about the new upcoming Nokia phones was announced late last month, we haven’t had much focus on two of the most speculated phones unveiled, the Nokia N95 8Gb edition and the Nokia N81.

Nokia N95 (8Gb)

If you are currently using the old Nokia N95 already, it may appeal to you that though this looks like the previous version of Nokia N95, this new 8Gb edition has had some slight alterations to its design to give it a more trendy look.

As you can see in the pics below, the new 8Gb N95 has a larger screen, 2.8 inch to be precise, as a result you may feel that the keys at the bottom of the screen have become squashed abit, however this hasn’t yet raised any major issues. Being a slider phone just like its previous, the multimedia keys which stand out when the sliding screen is pushed downwards have been redesigned to be more prominent and more accessible, increasing your ease of handling video and music play.

Here’s a reminder of how they compare, the original N95:

Back in June, when we wrote a post about a few of Sony Ericsson’s latest upcoming phones, I recently found out we had entirely forgotten to write about the Sony Ericsson W910i!

You may consider the W910i to be a rather “lite” version of the upcoming W960i, however the W960i’s UK launch date is still uncertain. As for the W910i, it is expected to arrive soon, so I hope this quick post isn’t too late.

[sitethumb://www.phones4u.co.uk/coming-soon/cindex.asp]

So what does the W910i offer?

For a start, the W910i will be a brilliant handy, thin slider, only 12.5mm thick (compared to K850i 17mm thick, Nokia N95 21mm, Samsung G600 and E950 14.9mm thick) and will come in “Hearty Red” and “Noble Black” have a look at some of its major specs listed below:

  • GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • 3G, EDGE, GPRS, HSDPA (3.6Mbps), A2DP
  • 86g in weight
  • TFT, 256K colors
  • 240 x 320 pixels, 2.4-inch screen
  • Memory Stick Micro (M2) card slot
  • 40MB internal memory
  • Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP
  • USB 2.0
  • 2 MP camera
  • Standby time: up to 400 hours
  • Talk time: up to 9 hours
  • Other features:
    • RSS reader
    • Walkman player 3.0
    • TrackID music recognition

The W910i will not have a touch screen like some might have expected. However improvements to the walkman series phones such as higher camera resolution and better quality videos plus the ability to play windows media files and real player files will certainly make it a stronger competitor amongst the current new line of multimedia phones.

Ok, enough reading! Check out some actual hands-on videos after the jump:

stealth-switch-picture-2-500×500_22292.jpg

I came across this USB gadget while I was searching for a birthday present for my friend. This is called “stealth switch”, which claims to be “the worlds first desktop cloaking device”. I think this is perfect for those like my friend who sits next to his boss’s office.

Features:

This device can be hidden and controlled under your desk! With its 6″ USB cable, its foot tap button can be placed “hiddenly” under your foot. Once the foot tap is stepped, the following functions can be activated according to your preset options:

  1. To switch or hide your current window/ all windows instantly.
  2. You can preset to bring up a preferred window at all times.
  3. Password to protect your computer.
  4. Mute sound,etc…

A flat panel tv is all the rage these days. It has replaced conventional TVs like the laptop computers replacing the desktop. There are cell phones with in built digital camera and mp 3 players that is replacing the car audio system as well.

Found this neat gadget today via TrendHunter today, not one of those new USB inventions though this time. This is actually a tiny “handheld” gadget small enough to fit into a purse that has been rumored to be able to cure you from most mosquito bites.

How does it work? — When you target the area on your skin which you have been blood sucked, clicking on the zapper’s button will trigger a mild current of impulses created by a piezo crystal within, in this way your itch is zapped away!

I manage to find a seller on eBay selling this gadget, this seller claims that it will cure up to 1,000 bites and that after zapping your punctured wound, the swelling should also start to reduce!

USB necktie with fan cooler

Checkout this USB gadget, a necktie with a fan at the top to keep you cool while you’re connected to your pc! It charges itself while connected via it’s USB cable, I wonder how long it can run before overheating its tiny fan motor?

The necktie itself costs 2980 Yen which is equivalent to about £12.50 and about $25 USD.

A “real live” fish bowl on your desktop!

On August 8, 2007, in Gadgets, Technology, by Admin Staff

USB Gadgets - Fish Bowl

Here’s an interesting piece of USB gadget I found via Newlaunches.com, “a computer controlled aquarium” from COMFISH! It comes with a “camera interlocking device” (please don’t ask what that means!), which seems to link the fish bowl onto your desktop so that you can see your fish swim in “real time”. You can also control various functions of the tank directly from your pc, like water temperature, flow, the filter, the pump, lighting, etc…
