Just a few days after it was officially submitted, its now available! TomTom’s updated sat nav app is now in version 1.2 and available from the App Store. It boasts a number of much needed updates and surprisingly, TomTom has decided to support iPod Touch and the first gen GPS-less iPhone.
For those who have been waiting / undecided whether or not to get the sat nav app for your iPhone, this update is significant in that TomTom has now caught up with the others by allowing for turn-by-turn navigation. However, this still means you will need that expensive car kit to work. The Tom Tom car kit has a built-in GPS module, integrated speaker and line out. However, it’s not vital if you have the iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS.
TomTom’s iPhone sat nav application hasn’t had the best of starts. As we mentioned a few weeks ago, an update could just be around the corner. It was anticipated at that time that an update to the application would include finally everything that disappointed users have requested, ie such as advanced lane guidance.
