If you saw the video review of the Lenovo ultra portable ThinkPad X200 we featured two weeks ago then you might be interested in a few closer shots of the mini laptop itself in this gallery. The X200 has now been officially introduced in Korea (where the below pictures have been taken) for 1,700,000 (KRW) which is equivalent to about £750. That’s not bad, considering that it adopts Intel P8600(2.4GHz) processor, 2GB of DDR3 memory, 160GB HDD and has a 12-inch 16:9 widescreen with a resolution of 1,280×800.
If you used to use IBM ThinkPads and its been a while since you laid your hands on one, now could be a time when you consider the latest ultra portable Lenovo ThinkPad X200. It’s been voted as CNET Editors’ Choice and could be a perfect candidate for those who need something lightweight and convenient to carry around anywhere you go.
Here are the typical specs of the X200…
- Width: 11.61 inches
- Depth: 9.2 inches
- Thickness: 0.8-in – 1.4 inches
- Width: 11.6 inches
- Depth: 8.3 inches
- Thickness: 0.8 – 1.4″
- 4-cell battery starting at 1.34 kg / 2.95 lbs
- 6-cell battery starting at 1.47 kg / 3.24 lbs
- 9-cell battery starting at 1.63 kg / 3.58 lbs
Just before the video, let’s first take a look at the main good and bad points…
The good: Record-breaking battery life; strong performance for an ultraportable; comfortable full-size keyboard; wide-screen display with a sharp resolution; WWAN and GPS options.
The bad: Nine-cell battery adds significant weight; lacks an optical drive; includes pointing stick but no touch pad.The bottom line: It lacks some basic features you may require–touch pad, optical drive–but the 12.1-inch ThinkPad X200 offers strong performance and the longest battery life we’ve seen. With a variety of connectivity options and a roomy keyboard, the X200 makes a great ultraportable for road warriors.
Laptops are made to be mobile, lightweight, handy to use and convenient to carry aren’t they? Well the latest ThinkPad W700 by Lenovo is probably what I would say the opposite of all that. It is large, weighs 3.6 kg, nevermind about the design, it doesn’t look easy to carry around at all…
So why have they made a laptop like this? Well the W700 actually features some very hefty hardware which most lightweight laptops would not have, but I can sense that professional photographers and graphics users will love to get their hands on this badboy! Firstly as you can see in the picture, it features a built-in 4.7-inch by 3.2-inch Wacom tablet, which as you can in the photo looks like a massive touchpad though takes up a large amount of space just next to the normal touchpad, is in fact much like one that functions like a digitiser ‘drawing board’. As for the screen it’s no ordinary laptop screen, it’s a 17″ “400 nit” brightness WUXGA screen which has been said to be a very exclusive piece of high quality hardware for professionals. What about the inside? As you would expect, the W700′s inside is just as amazing as its outside, if not more! With a 3GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme quad core processor, 8GB of DDR RAM, two HDD bays, an NVIDIA Quadro M3700 GPU with 1GB of VRAM, a 7-in-1 memory card reader, 5 USB ports, there isn’t much that this laptop cannot do when compared to some of top of the range desktops that you would find on high streets.
In addition to what I’ve just mentioned, you can also have the option to upgrade your W700 with the option to include a Blu-Ray drive and also triple 320GB hard drives for up to 960GB in capacity – now your mobile workstation is all set to go!
This is hilarious, saw this post while stumbling through Engadget, it appears that a man (Boring Trash) has posted in his blog saying his IBM ThinkPad R50e “tried to kill” him. His three-year-old laptop which exploded, completely took out a big chunk of his bed as pictured, BoringTrash says he had been using the end of his bed as a desk for four weeks with no problem whatsoever, wonder what made his friendly companion so fed up?

Found a post about a $5000 ThinkPad Reserve Edition leather laptop currently on sale, apart from having a leather exterior, the mechanics inside are just your average specs. 160 Gb hard drive, 2 Gb memory, 2.2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, DVD writer and a 12.1″ screen. Would you consider buying this laptop? (it’s special! :] )
