Back in the 80’s, there were no MP3 players or iPods, and Sony Walkman was the best portable audio player, but audio players have changed since then, and since we don’t use Walkman anymore to listen favorite songs, somebody has decided to turn Walkmen into a retro-looking flask.
Having just spoken about the newly released Sony Walkman S (S540) Series last week, it looks like our newest gadget has arrived at our doorstep this morning. Sony has announced the launch of its latest addition to their Walkman portable video / music players. Believe it or not, the new S Series is the first ever Walkman video MP3 player with built-in stereo speakers. Ultrathin at just 10.2mm thick, the new S Series will be available in four colours: black, pink, violet and red. It features a bright, high resolution 2.4-inch LCD screen, and is designed to play videos in landscape format with a supplied stand accessory. More info and full press release right after the jump…
Sony has announced two new Sony compact audio systems: NAS-Z200iR and CMT-Z100iR. They may be minimalist in style, but come packed with features: a docking station for an iPod, a slot loading CD player, a USB port, PC streaming and Internet radio (NAS-Z200iR) and an integrated AM/FM radio.
NAS-Z200iR features Certified Wi-Fi, allowing easy wireless data transfer so you can access the music library on your PC, nd play your tracks back on the Z200iR. It also comes with an intuitive remote control with a 3.5-inch LCD display.
The other compact sound systemn is the CMT-Z100iR, which comes in glossyblack and in white. The acoustic technologies used allow music to be delivered in rich and clear sound that’s beyound expectations from a sustem this small.
We posted a hands on video about the latest Sony X-series OLED Walkman a few days ago. Although there is no official press release, Pocket-lint and other UK sites are claiming that Sony’s OLED Walkman will arrive UK high streets today. The Sony OLED Walkman will be priced at £209 for the 16GB model and £279 for the 32GB model.
Check out this recent hands on video of the new Sony X Series Walkman from Engadget. We know you all love your OLEDs, the NWZ-X1050 sports OLED touch screen and you will see the difference it makes in the vid below. While it is an evaluation unit (from Japan?), the NWZ-X1050 is now already available in Japan and Asia. We don’t expect there to be much difference when the X1050 eventually arrives here in the UK or the US.

Check out the following video featuring the latest Sony X-Series Walkman, NWZ-X1060 by CNET Asia. Of course one of the most attractive features of the X1060 is OLED, despite this it does have a lower resolution screen compared to that of the iPod Touch.
