The Playstation has been a dominating game console for as far as it can be remembered. But Sony / Sony Ericsson have always denied the possibility of a Sony Ericsson phone orientated towards its game console series, in other words a PlayStation phone. In the past Sony have stressed that a PlayStation-branded phone could only exist independently from the mobile phone maker. However in a recent interview with Financial Times, Sony Ericsson’s president Hideki Komiyama have hinted that a PlayStation branded phone could actually be back in their agenda afterall. “If we do not adapt to this new technology or new market environment, we’re going to lose”, the Sony Ericsson head suggested.
This comes as less of a surprise. With significant losses just within Q1 of 2009 and increasing threat into the portable gaming market from Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch, clearly the Sony Ericsson boss feels it may be necessary afterall to rethink about the idea of launching a portable PlayStation mobile phone device – watch this space!
You will know doubt remember when Sony Ericsson announced the Idou about a month ago. Sony Ericsson’s latest Idou was revealed this week at the Mobile World Congress, Barcelona. Probably the most appealing feature is that the Idou boasts a 12.1-megapixel camera, of course, this means SE is now further leading the market with their Cybershot technology equipped phones. But to me I think that is the only thing that I like about the Idou and nothing else. The video embedded below features how the new user interface works on the full touch screen flagship, the picture browser works exactly like the iPhone’s, which kind of puts me off as there is nothing new or creative about it.
Sony Ericsson has just previewed their latest iPhone killer, scheduled to appear in summer 2009, during the company’s press conference at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The full touchscreen phone called Idou (Sony Ericsson does seem to have plans to change this code name to a more commercial friendly name in the future!) features a 3.5-inch touchscreen and a massive 12.1-megapixel camera, all running on a Symbian OS, more details to be revealed very soon! Here is another one of Google’s latest features to be released, Google Latitude. What Google Latitude does is that it lets you see your friends on a map within Google Maps for mobile and iGoogle. Of course, the person you want to see on the map will need to have the appropriate gadget, and you must have their permission first in order to see where they are.
An example of its use could be to plan a meetup with someone anywhere nearby at a point on the map, or see that a loved one has got home safely or just stay in touch (or spy) with friends!
Let’s face it, us geeks are not terribly fit. We’re really good at sitting in front of the computer, while our fingers and hands may be hard at work, not really any other part of our body is! So maybe this could help us out. Chris Hall from Pocket-lint have got a list of gadgets here which are not just fun gadgets in its own right but also provides ways (application) in which their technology could possibly help get us fit again.
I know quite alot of our readers here have the iPhone, the StepTrak Lite app from the App Store is free and is basically a pedometer on your iPhone. It’s not bad at all for those who may want to start ‘lite’ with some gentle walking first
, it’s free so why not give it a go?
Here’s a screenshot of StepTrak Lite:
