We were recently sent the new Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini for a quick test drive. The word ‘Mini’ often comes across to many with mixed feelings and with the phone being ‘X10 Mini’, there is no doubt that some will wonder as to whether it is a budget or low end version of the original Xperia X10. Indeed, we do think that the Xperia X10 Mini is a somewhat inferior mobile to the X10 – design wise and spec wise.

Rumors are hot regarding Sony Ericsson developing a brand new gaming platform which is surely going to give a strong fight against the likes of Google (though the irony is that this phone will be using Android). Everybody understands that gaming is going to touch new levels on Android platform and looks like it will be Sony that will define the totally different world of gaming on Android platforms. You may have seen our recent gallery featuring the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, the name Xperia will probably be familiar to many here but the X10 is in fact Sony Ericsson’s first attempt at an Android phone. With the overwhelming majority of popular Android phones coming from HTC, Motorola and Google themselves, frankly we were quite interested in seeing how well a Sony Ericsson Android phone would perform. Its finally arrived! We’ve just been sent Sony Ericsson’s first Android phone, the XPERIA X10. With a 1GHz Snapdragon chip from Qualcomm, 4-inch capacitive touch display, an 8.1 megapixel camera, and the new “Rachael” Android UI by SE, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 has been available to users here in the UK since late last month.

Feedback and comments so far have been pretty good, demonstrating that its been a good 2010 entry into the Android market for Sony Ericsson.

Late last week it was emerged that here in the UK, Orange has managed to snatch an exclusive deal with Sony Ericsson’s first Android OS powered device, the XPERIA X10 (white).

The mobile operator today confirmed the white version of the eagerly anticipated device will be available from early April and will be free to customers on select pay monthly contracts. While both Orange and Vodafone UK will be selling the black version of the XPERIA X10, the white version will be exclusive to just Orange customers.
