Just heads up to all PC users that the iPhone Dev Team’s latest release of redsn0w is compatible with Mac OS X and PC. Redsn0w has very similar functionality to Quickpwn, it will jailbreak firmware OS 3.0 running on first and second generation iPhone, iPhone 3G, first and second generation iPod Touch but not iPhone 3GS – now also jailbreaks iPhone 3GS!

If you’re a PC user and haven’t been able to use Pwnage Tool for jailbreaking your device due to its Mac OS X specificity then redsn0w is definitely worth having a look at as it essentially provides the same outcome. For full details, check out our full guide.
Update (08072009): Newest redsn0w now jailbreaks all iPhones and iPod Touches, this includes iPhone 3GS as well!
Just as we expected everyone, jailbreak and unlocking tools for iPhone OS 3.0 have been released. Only first generation iPhone 2G and the first generation both generations of iPod Touch running the new iPhone 3.0 can be jailbroken and unlocked at this point. It is now probably the only time in iPhone hacking history which we have tools available to jailbreak and unlock all devices, these include jailbreak and unlock for iPhone 2G, 3G and 3GS. Jailbreak is also now fully successful for both generations of iPod Touch.
After project yellowsn0w, the iPhone Dev Team have been working hard into 2009 on the next most important thing – jailbreak for iPod Touch 2G. Yes it’s what many of you guys have been asking about, and up til now, we have said we don’t know whether its possible
, well now we know that it is possible. Though no info on when it would be released yet, we do know that a jailbreak solution does exist and they are working on it!
The first video below shows you guys why its not been as easy to get through and jailbreak the second gen iPod Touch as the first gen. The second one features what it will be like when its released and available to everyone. Of course, when it is out redsn0w should not have any restrictions to you accessing and downloading from the App Store in addition to being able to download jailbroken apps.
