Back in August, we wrote a post about Local Cooling, at the same time we also started to use Local Cooling as a way to promoting green tech and also to help reduce our pc’s unnecessary power consumption. Guess what? Just after about one and a half month, we’ve managed to save 3.132 trees, which is equivalent to 28.36 Gal of oil, etc… Just have a look at our widget! Even though, we’re not getting any money or anything for referring people to use Local Cooling, it feels just as good! So give it a try and join the fight against global warming directly from your desktop!

Apple iPod Touch

The new iPod has been spoken about in everyone’s conversation here in the UK, Apple this and iPod Touch that…woh…we britons are just as addicted to Apple as any other nation after all. I realise its already been in the press, in the news on tv and you readers out there probably know more about then i do! But ok, it doesn’t matter, this will just be a quick post with lots of cool pics and some main specs about the new iPod Touch.

So it turns out Apple will finally be launching an iPod with touch screen and WiFi, the new iPod will be equipped with a hi-resolution 3.5″ screen, Safari web browser, with its internet connectivity, users will also be able to directly download music via iTunes. The new iPod Touch does not have any buttons, music controls, everything is simply based on control via its touchscreen. However, if you’ve read up to this point, you may probably realise there is really nothing more to the new iPod Touch that iPhone doesn’t already have, except for the phone bit.

If you were to hold the iPod Touch, you will notice that it is thinner (8mm) in comparison to the iPhone, may be that is the main difference! In terms of pricing, iPod Touch will be expected to arrive the UK (and worldwide) by the end of the month. Roughly speaking, the 8 Gb version will cost approx. £150.00, while the 16 Gb will be £200.00.

If you haven’t seen the new iPod Touch’s ‘guided tour’ video, here’s your chance now:

Cell Phone Fallen Apart…Ok, I’d hate to blog any bad news about the iPhone, especially just after having written a post celebrating the iPhone’s unlock. But this is actually quite serious, as you may already know, the iPhone is not like any other cell phone / mobile phone… the batteries do not pop out when it falls on the floor, the casing does not fall apart everywhere like you would expect with a normal cell phone (like the picture to the left), at least not usually.

This is what makes it so unique, however, in return there is a price to pay. Because the iPhone’s battery cannot be taken out and replaced by a new one, its quite obvious that your iPhone’s unique power source will die someday and along with it goes your iPhone…

To ‘help’ you prepare for this holy day, PCMAG has created an iPhone Death Watch. Given that your iPhone’s every functionality depends heavily on its battery, it was actually quite simple to setup a formula to calculate when exactly in terms of ‘after how many charges’ your iPhone will hit the bin.
