Looks like Ben Heck finally has some proper competition. The video below shows you what some kids are interested in doing these days, not playing on swings, kicking footballs about but giving video consoles a good mod.
Fifteen year old modista Xteaphn (that’s pronounced Steven, folks) has a little sideline going on custom-made portable hardware, with several mods to his name — including this pint-sized, battery-powered Wii. The thing is tiny — it’s dwarfed by a 13-inch notebook — and a full charge will give it about an hour of play.
As an update to Samsung’s popular P2, the P3 shares many of its predecessor’s features, including a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen, DNSe sound enhancement, audio and video playback, photo viewer, FM radio, voice recording and Bluetooth capabilities such as phone pairing and stereo audio streaming.
Unlike the P2, the Samsung P3 uses a colourful new user interface – EmoTure that emphasises personalisation, which is not often seen in portable media players. The body of the P3 is made from die-cast metal, available in black or silver, measuring just 0.39-inch thick. P3 users also get treated to Haptic feedback on the touchscreen, offering a little reassuring vibration whenever a menu item is selected.
The P3 will be available in the first half of 2009 in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB storage capacities. No final word on pricing, but current P2 pricing should give an idea of what to expect.
A keen tech savvy Japanese modder used the touchscreen kit for Eee and modified his ASUS Eee netbook into a fully working touchscreen tablet pc.
It took about 10 whole hours and $120 to complete but the finishing looks fab, only one problem though, this particular Eee is no longer as portable and convenient to carry as other typical Eee’s! The mod is complete with a transparent casing accented with aluminum foil, check out the pictures in the gallery below… Continue reading »
