Gallery: Nokia N97 vs Apple iPhone

On December 5, 2008, in Cell Phones, by KLS

The Apple iPhone has established itself as the gold standard for comparison between other new and upcoming smartphones. There is no doubt why this photoshoot was done, Nokia’s latest N series flagship N97 is packed full of hafty specs, not to say the least it’s got a 32 GB of internal storage, support for microSD and a much more powerful 5 megapixel camera.

There have been alot of speculation regarding a possible upcoming Nokia flagship, this was finally announced today at the Nokia World 2008 conference in Barcelona and Spain. Is this what Nokia decided to unleash to rival the Apple iPhone and Google Android T-Mobile G1?

The Nokia N97. It is part of the company’s high-end N series touch phone, with a horizontal QWERTY keyboard below a tilting 3.5-inch 640×360 touchscreen. Since social-networkings are so popular nowadays, the N97 introduces something calls “social location,” which uses the capabilities of the integrated A-GPS sensors and electronic compass to automatically update users’ social networks, or let them share their location via photos or videos with friends.

The Nokia N97 supports up to a total of 48 GB of storage, this breaks down to 32 GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded with a 16 GB microSD card.

Also, other specs include: Integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, 5MP camera with Zeiss lens and LED flash, 3.5mm headphone jack, fully compatible with Nokia’s Ovi Internet services, which includes the new Nokia Music Store, Nokia Maos and the N-Gage gaming Platform.

Sadly, it is expected to arrive the high streets from the beginning of 2009 in Europe and Asia markets, therefore the N97 won’t be a likely candidate to your Christmas shopping list.

The 16:9 widescreen display can be fully personalized with frequently updated widgets of favorite web services and social networking sites. The Nokia N97 is also perfectly suited for browsing the web, streaming Flash videos or playing games. Both the physical QWERTY and virtual touch input ensure efficiency in blogging, chatting, posting, sending texts or emailing.
