Remember the unboxing pictures of the latest Apple MacBook we featured last week? Tom from Stuff have now passed on to us a video review of the new Macbook they received. It really is a beautiful, luxurious laptop which just further reinforces the message that Apple is trying to get at. They don’t intend on compromising any of their computers’ quality so that prices may be lowered, which seems to be the opposite of what many are doing in the face of the recent credit crunch.

The folks over at iFixit who previously also dissected a whole bunch of other gadgets like the iPhone 3G loves to take things apart, this time he gets his hands on the beautifully assembled new MacBook Pro (click to enlarge):

Guess what the coroner found out? Quite interesting actually:

  • The optical drive is identical in the MB and MBP, and it’s SATA
  • MBP RAM isn’t tough to replace, but hard drive requires a Torx screwdriver
  • The keyboards can be user-serviced, but require removing 56 screws first
  • “Unibody” construction is “elegant”
  • “The new MacBook is really a 13″ MacBook Pro. It uses the same design, and same manufacturing quality”

If you haven’t had enough of us talking about the latest release of new MacBooks, here is a gallery (thanks to Tom from Stuff for the tip!) in which the new 13-inch MacBook is unboxed. It really is a stunning laptop, I’m not a big fan of ultra portable laptops as I have always hated their small screens, but this latest MacBook haven’t given me the feeling that that doesn’t matter!

Tom is in the middle of making a hands-on video of the MacBook, I’m sure we’ll get to see it very soon!

Apparently a memorandum of understanding signed by WiBro with Apple Korea has given raise to speculations that a third generation-based communications technology with Apple’s hit products like the MacBook laptops and iPod portable media players is expected. The purpose behind this move has been attributed to the possibility of adding Mobile Wimax chips to the iPods and Macbooks as the new wireless data standard grades up. I guess we will have to wait till more news on this MoU clears up.

As you will know, latest MacBooks were finally revealed yesterday, (Info on the new 13-inch MacBooks are on a separate post) the new 15-inch MacBook Pro will come with the unibody enclosure, slim and streamlined with a soft-brushed surface and stunning contours.

The new MacBook Pro combines the efficiency of an integrated graphics processor with the desktop-class performance of a discrete graphics processor. That’s because it has both. Out of the box, it runs the integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400M processor, which provides plenty of performance for everyday use with up to 5 hours of battery life.* But when you need turbocharged performance for the most graphically intensive tasks, the discrete NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT processor delivers. And thanks to a new graphics architecture, it’s easy to switch between these two processors.

The new MacBook Pros’ minimum spec is powered by 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 3MB on-chip shared L2 cache running 1:1 with processor speed; or 2.53GHz or 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 6MB shared L2 cache, 2GB (two 1GB SO-DIMMs) or 4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM; two SO-DIMM slots support up to 4GB and comes with a 15.4-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen display with support for millions of colors, 8x slot-loading SuperDrive, 250GB or 320GB hard drive also has the buttonless multi-trackpad same as the 13-inch Macbook.

The latest MacBook Pro will be available with two different specs:

  • 2.4GHz with 2GB memory and 250GB hard drive
  • 2.53GHz with 4GB memory and 320GB hard drive

Prices will be £1,399.00 and £1,749.00 respectively.

Apple released a few MacBooks yesterday at the Apple Event, and the new 13-inch MacBook one has been the one that’s been most talked about. (Info on the new 15-inch MacBook Pro is on a separate post.)

Apple’s new 13-inch Macbook is thinner, lighter, durable and comes with the new, solid-aluminum unibody enclosure. As you can imagine already it is designed to be portable, slipping in your briefcase or backpack and pull it out wherever and whenever you need it.

The new 13-inch Macbook is powered by 2.0GHz or 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 3MB on-chip shared L2 cache running 1:1 with processor speed, 2GB (two 1GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM; two SO-DIMM slots support up to 4GB and comes with 13.3-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen display with support for millions of colors, 8x slot-loading SuperDrive (DVD-R DL/DVD-RW/CD-RW), illuminated keyboard and 160GB or 250GB hard drive.

As you can see there’s no button at the trackpad, this new MacBook featured new trackpad doubles up as a button, just press down anywhere and consider it clicked, now that’s really fancy technology for a laptop! This new multi-trackpad supports two-finger scrolling, pinch, rotate, three-finger swipe, four-finger swipe, tap, double-tap, and drag capabilities and it is made from wear-resistant etched glass!

The two new MacBooks will cost differently according to the specs which you choose:

  • 2.0GHz with 2GB DDR3 memory and 160GB hard drive
  • 2.4GHz with 2GB DDR3 memory and 250GB hard drive

They will cost £949.00 and £1,149.00 respectively.
