Apple has decided to begin shipping a refreshed version of the popular MacBook Air next month in an attempt to stave off dwindling sales of current Air models. The new MacBook Airs’ introduced tonight at the ‘Back to the Mac’ event has no optical drive as with the first generation but neither will it have a hard drive. This explains the fact that it can allow instant-on functionality. The latest MacBook Air is the first of a new generation of notebooks that leaves behind mechanical rotating storage in favor of solid state flash storage.

The MacBook Air has memory up to two times faster that is more reliable and 90 percent smaller and lighter.
