Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple have said today that he’s been given leave of absence for medical reasons, however, the worrying part of his statement is he has not stated how long he will be away for. Jobs also took a six-month leave of absence in early 2009 when he received a liver transplant. While he has made no mention of leaving his role permanently, Tim Cooks will be the man in charge of Apple’s 2011 plans.

The new MacBook Airs’ introduced tonight at the ‘Back to the Mac’ event has no optical drive as with the first generation but neither will it have a hard drive. This explains the fact that it can allow instant-on functionality. The latest MacBook Air is the first of a new generation of notebooks that leaves behind mechanical rotating storage in favor of solid state flash storage.

The MacBook Air has memory up to two times faster that is more reliable and 90 percent smaller and lighter.
