The folks at Spatial View recently announced the launch of their online store for offering downloadable 3D videos and 3D images called 3DeeCentral. Soon iPhone and iPod Touch users (and most likely iPad) will be able to download and directly watch 3D content via their 3DeeCentral application which is currently pending the App Store’s approval. Skype has just released a long awaited software update to their Apple iPhone app. The new version, 2.0.0, now supports 3G calling. Full improvements include:
- Call using your 3G connection. Skype-to-Skype calls on 3G are free until at least end of August 2010, after which there will be a small monthly fee (operator charges for data will still apply).
- Near CD-quality sound for Skype-to-Skype calls using wideband audio (SILK codec) on iPhone 3GS and 2nd generation iPhone touch.
- Enhanced call quality indicator.
- Improved start-up time.
- Fast access to the dial pad from iPhone home screen.
We only spoke about this a few days ago, but the jailbreaking tool known as Spirit is now available for all users running Mac OS X or Windows. It is essentially a jailbreaking tool which will provide you access to Cydia and not an unlocking tool. Users will be able to use Spirit for jailbreaking the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch running OS firmware version 3.1.2, 3.1.3 or 3.2.

While it looks definite that Vodafone won’t be able to get us the iPhone by Christmas, it has now announced when it will be available next year. The date is set for January 14 2010, the iPhone will cost a reasonable £30 per month on two-year contract, however, this is in addition to a one off handset price of £239 if the 32GB iPhone 3GS is what you want. Otherwise it will just be a one off £59 for the 8GB iPhone 3G. A limited monthly 1GB of 3G data is included, alongside unlimited WiFi.
Just a few days after it was officially submitted, its now available! TomTom’s updated sat nav app is now in version 1.2 and available from the App Store. It boasts a number of much needed updates and surprisingly, TomTom has decided to support iPod Touch and the first gen GPS-less iPhone.
For those who have been waiting / undecided whether or not to get the sat nav app for your iPhone, this update is significant in that TomTom has now caught up with the others by allowing for turn-by-turn navigation. However, this still means you will need that expensive car kit to work. The Tom Tom car kit has a built-in GPS module, integrated speaker and line out. However, it’s not vital if you have the iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS.
For iPhone and iPod Touch who jailbreak and use SSH to access their devices, the “Rickroll worm” or RickRoll SSH hack is something you definitely want to avoid if possible. The fact that attacks like these have been possible make you think that far more serious and malicious attacks can happen in the future.
