It looks like the HTC Touch HD’s title for being the only HD mobile handset in the market won’t last very long. Another Softbank related news for you folks, Softbank and Sharp have teamed up to release the FULLTOUCH 931SH. It’ll have a large, 3.8-inch touch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 480. The phone comes with a 5.2 megapixel camera, along with GPS, HSDPA, accelerometer, bluetooth, a fascinating magnetic compass and because it’s going to be used in Japan, on-board support for wireless payment systems -very neat!

No word on pricing and availability at the moment, most certainly though, the 931SH won’t be coming to anyone else that doesn’t live in Japan. But we’ll hopefully have more info and photos for you on this latest handset soon.

The Sony Ericsson C905 mobile phone is the first slide-open handset to carry the popular Sony Cyber-shot badge. As you would expect, it’s packed with a premium quality 8.1 MP camera with 16 x digital zoom, Xenon flash, image stabiliser, etc, believe me this badboy would see other camera phones – literally worthless. The C905 also features GPS for Geo-tagging, HSDPA, WiFi, bluetooth and has TV-out making it an all-round excellent soon to arrive entertainer. More specs available here.

We’re not here to tell you about the specs, but we are here to show you some exclusive pictures, you see, according to Carphone Warehouse, the C905 we will be getting in about a months time (suggested to be in October) will only be in black. However, here are some pics of the C905 in a colour that we expect you not to be able to find anytime soon – white!

Hey folks, remember the LG Viewty? It was just this time last year when we spoke about it and it was probably one of the first few high megapixel touch screen phones by LG to launch in the UK. What it was renowned for was its success in high quality camera and video recording functionality and one very exclusive feature, the ability to directly upload onto YouTube.

Now a year later, we have the Viewty’s successor, the KC910…

The KC910 boasts a 3″ WQVGA 240×400 pixel display that is fully touchscreen. The camera is a ISO1600 8MP camera with Schneider-Kreuznach optics, digital zoom, image stabiliser and geotagging. The video camera has VGA capability at 30fps and QVGA capability at 120fps and DivX and Xvid. Connectivity is important, with HSDPA connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi and and TV-out support. It can also take SD cards with a capacity up to 8GB.

We will definitely look forward to seeing how it’s release next month will turn out, meanwhile we will try to retrieve our own KC910 for some live shots and a review of our own.

Hopefully the KC910 will be a much better version of the Viewty, in particular the added WiFi feature and how well this massive 3″ display will work in conjunction with these new features is what I’m interested in. In terms of the camera, I would expect a great deal of quality simply based on what I’ve seen from its predecessor and with a capacity of up to 8GB, that’s not too far away from what I expect from a new phone these days. All in all, I do expect a great deal from this new and hopefully much improved phone, meanwhile here are some pictures and a demo video…

Sony Ericsson yesterday announced the G705 and the G705u – its special Orange-branded variant. These two phones will be Sony Ericsson’s first phone to support UMA, which will give users the ability to make calls via the regular cellular networks as well as LAN networks!

So let’s take a quick look at the major eye-catching specifications of the G705, 2.4 inch display (QVGA resolution), HSDPA/HSUPA (HSUPA for the American model), WLAN with support for DLNA, GPS with support for aGPS, FM radio with RDS, NetFront browser, A2 platform, 3.2 mega pixel fixed focus camera. A 1 GB memory card is included as a standard bundle. It is essentially a C905 with added HSUPA, but without the excellent camera!

Sony Ericsson didn’t fail to add a few extra goodies though, the mobile giant also announced yesterday a new partnership with Google, meaning that you’ll be able to download and upload videos from and to YouTube directly from the G705, which is pretty neat for those who like to video-blog. The good thing is this feature will not be exclusive to the G705 but also future models.

The G705 will be available in Silky Gold and Majestic Black in early Q4 – that’s soon! The American model supporting the faster HSUPA networks will be available sooner, in Q1. The G705u will be available in early Q4 as well in Luminous Black!

One of the most exciting new launches from the recent IFA has been the latest touchscreen multimedia phone Samsung Omnia. Most of you by now will probably know about it’s specs, 5-mp digital camera, HSDPA and WiFi connectivity, Windows Mobile 6.1 running various Microsoft Office applications, a huge touchscreen that many have said is even better than the iPhone’s and a bundle of other functions such as handwriting recognition, etc…

So I’ve just seen a pretty good video and thought I’d share it here

I think the Omnia looks quite promising, one of the main features I always look for in a touchscreen phone like the Omnia is has it got a good enough camera just for day to day use. Obviously the iPhone 3G’s been great for me but it lacked a proper camera to the extent that I’ve needed to install an enhancement app for it just to make it more convenient for my daily use. I like the Omnia’s camera and if you saw the video, the 9-continuous shots looked pretty impressive for a phone.

If you’re from the UK and also found the Omnia quite tempting, I’m happy to tell you that the Omnia is now available from Phones4U. I have not seen any updates from CarphoneWarehouse, so at the moment I only know that it is available from Phones4U from networks Orange and Vodafone. Both networks are offering only 18-month tariffs and of course price range varies from £35 to £55, surprisingly the handset price is free!

The news that the South Korean mobile giant Samsung was going to join the eight megapixel camera phone trend with their new phone i8510 was announced in late July, however nothing was said about whether it will be launched in the UK until now. It was announced yesterday that Samsung’s latest eight megapixel bad boy will be the first of its kind to arrive the UK and we now know that we’re looking at around next month in September, no exact dates have been told.

Samsung I8510 Cell Phone 8 Mp Front

The Samsung i8510 is a multimedia slider phone, equipped with a 2.8″ 16 million colour LCD display, connectivity wise it features 3G and HSDPA as well as WiFi. When it was first announced late last month, it was said that 8GB and 16GB versions would be available, it would be interesting to see if this would apply to its arrival here in the UK.

Now of course, the most exciting bit, the i8510′s eight megapixel camera can take photos of up to 3264×2448 pixels, it’s got autofocus, image stabiliser, video(VGA@30fps, QVGA@120fps), unfortunately no fancy Xenon flash here. This amazing camera is also supported by a unique application that automatically geotags photographs with the location where they were taken, abit like the Google Map function you get with Picassa web albums. Also included within its functionality are features such as auto-panorama shot, face, smile and blink detection.

Samsung I8510 Cell Phone 8 Mp

The Samsung i8510 has been said to be able to offer stand-by time of up to 310 hours and up to eight hours of talk time. The most unfortunate thing about the i8510 is that it doesn’t have a touch screen and unlike the iPhone it’s got alot more entertainment features like DivX/H.263/H.264/WMV/MP4 player, video editing, MP3/eAAC+/WMA/AMR/RealAudio player and TV out functionality. The Samsung i8510 will certainly be a popular choice amongst mobile phones due to be released in the next few coming months. We’ll keep everyone updated with news on tariff and handset pricing, for the time being we only know that it will be launched through the Carphone Warehouse.

Have a look at this Korean exclusive mobile… OK – the title might have been a bit misleading, but what the Samsung W480 basically is, its a Samsung Anycall mobile equipped with a proper 5-mega pixel digital camera with 3x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom. It also boosts autofocus and face detection function, something that not all camera phones on the current market will have, at least for the time being.

As you can see from the picture above, the W480 really does look more like a camera that you would bring on holiday rather than a phone – hence my post title!

From the mobile phone point of view, the Samsung W480 is well equipped with:

  • HSDPA
  • WCDMA/GSM
  • Bluetooth
  • Mp3 player
  • Supports up to 8 Gb of extended memory

Too bad it’s only available in Korea on the other hand it is quite expensive, costing $650 USD, which is about £330 pounds!

Here are more pics…
