As you know, Google Voice came to iPhone recently, but it seems that’s not enough for Google, therefore, Google decided to release Google Voice for non-phone iOS devices such as iPod Touch and the iPad.

Google finally released their official Google Voice for iPhone app in the AppStore. It brings full GV functionality, including background notifications and full two-way communication and message sync. It’s available right now US only for the time being, iPhones with iOS 3.1 or higher are supported.


As long as you’ve got a Google Voice account, then you shouldn’t have any problems getting it running. Just hit the link here for the App Store and hit download.

Call recording feature to be available with Gmail? This isn’t officially launched yet however, sources do point to this feature currently being tested. If all goes well during the testing period, recording should be made available to all users who have the call phone option enabled in Gmail.

Google introduces Voice in Gmail

A lot of rumors have been going around about Google voice calls, but now we know it’s true! Google has just made it official today and they are working on it right now. Google’s demoed the “Call from Gmail” service for us in San Francisco this morning, and it’s looking like it’s not free, but fairly cheap, it’ll cost around $0.02 per minute.

Inbound calls to this number are forwarded to the user assigned phone or phones so a user will never miss a single call. Domestic and international calls are made simple; dial a 10-digit number or use the web application.

As an iPhone user, you may be aware of the difficulty Google Voice has had with Apple. While the official Google Voice application has been rejected from the App Store, it doesn’t mean its not going to be possible. Though unofficial this time, Riverturn has created a web based app known as VoiceCentral Black Swan Edition, which means it won’t be coming to the App Store but the advantage of this is it’ll be available to everyone.
