As you will know we attended the launch of the LG Arena KM900 here in the UK earlier this week. We’ve now unboxed the phone itself and must say first impressions are that the Arena looks impressive and feels much more solid to hold compared to its predecessors.

Skype application for iPhone is official! As it was rumored earlier in the week, its now official and available for download absolutely free on iTunes, App Store now. As with the desktop IM software, Skype to Skype calls will be free and you’d also be able to chat with your contacts and friends using this app. As you would expect it does require access to a WiFi network though. The audio quality is good even through using WiFi which has been a problem with some non-Skype apps providing Skype support. The iPhone version of Skype supports VoIP service, chatting, incoming conference calls but its a shame you won’t be able to initate outgoing conference calls.

LG is increasing the buzz on its 13.4mm thick GD900 handset ahead of the upcoming CTIA Wireless Show 2009. The GD900 which you will recall was first shown at the MWC 2009, Barcelona. Its been said that this time, the 7.2 HSPDA slider with world’s first transparent glass (not plastic folks!) keypad will be functional, running LG’s new S-Class UI on the three inch display. GD900 features a vibrational haptic feedback and the transparent keypad seems to double as a touch-sensitive mouse pad. The GD900 will be available in Europe and Asia in May.
Is this the real deal? We have absolutely no idea whether this is just another photoshop mock up calling it the MacBook Mini. Mind you, April Fools is coming up! These are spyshots of what is allegedly the Apple netbook which we have all been waiting for, they were leaked and printed in a Russian magazine. What’s more is that the specs revealed showed no signs of on board 3G wireless connectivity, that’s odd for a netbook these days. Inside the supposed MacBook mini, there’s a 10.4″ screen with a 1,280×768 screen that handle HD videos. There’s also an Atom processor, 2 GB of RAM, WiFi, running Geforce 9400M, bluetooth, a 64GB solid state drive for storage, a USB port and a Mini DisplayPort.

When it comes to being eco-friendly and running on just electric power, Tesla has become reknown for doing the job right with its beautiful Roadster. However, the Roadster had quite a few downsides and just wasn’t practical enough. Though it was much faster than its old brother – the Lotus Elise and quieter than many petrol cars, each costed over 90k (in sterling pounds!).

A bit of car tech to start off the morning folks. This is the LRX concept from Land Rover. Its the car maker’s bid to create a vehicle just as good as their existing hefty off road 4X4s, but with significantly reduced carbon emissions and increased MPGs; in other words, the most efficient car they will ever have producted. We know this is possible, but it will be pricy and in addition to that Land Rover isn’t doing so well. From last December through next month, 1,800 employees have either been laid off, released or asked to leave. Our government (UK) have already given Land Rover a £27 million ($38 million USD) loan to help put the LRX into production, but once its done doing that, will this car be as popular as any of its other not so eco-friendly models? One thing is for sure, its not going to be cheap.
