iPhone 3.0 has settled in quite well in my view and I am sure many have been more than pleased to see Apple finally give the iPhone features such as copy and paste, MMS, landscape mode typing, Spotlight search, push notifications and many more. But did you know that actually there are some “hidden” functions that weren’t announced?
You may have figured out some of them yourself already but there are actually quite a few of them. I wouldn’t like to call this a secret but rather just tips and tricks to using the new iPhone OS 3.0. Check out the full list after the break…
The latest firmware 3.0 for iPhone and iPod Touch is now out, check your iTunes everyone! If you’ve got a jailbroken or unlocked iPhone, you might want to hold back from upgrading until the new tools are released for jailbreaking and unlocking the iPhone (2G, 3G and 3G S!).

Update (04/11/2009): Those who have 05.11.xx baseband but have not been able to use fuzzyband’s baseband downgrader due to various reasons including non-supporting bootloader version should have a look at a new unlock tool released for the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS by Geohot. Update (10/05/2009): There is now another tool to downgrade your iPhone 3G’s baseband.
Finally, at last! A baseband downgrade tool for iPhone 3G. Readers who are iPhone 3G users who unexpectedly and accidentally upgraded their iPhone 3G’s baseband during the iPhone firmware 2.2.1 update will be happy to know that ModMyi (not the iPhone Dev Team) have come up with a tool that claims to downgrade your iPhone’s baseband from 02.30.03 back to 02.28.00.

Just wanted to quickly point out something to iPhone 3G users since we received a few messages earlier in the week. Its about the release of iPhone 3.0 and now of course in Beta 2, some who have access to the iPhone Dev Center have been tempted to update.
You will already know what great features iPhone 3.0 offers, the latest release of iPhone 3.0 Beta 2 even does abit more. Firstly, APIs for the iPhone’s Push Notification Service have finally been thrown into the firmware, for some reason it wasn’t in the previous version. Secondly, Beta 2 of OS 3.0 now supports up to 11 pages of home screens of apps as opposed to currently nine.
However, iPhone 3G users whether you are currently unlocked with yellowsn0w or not unlocked but want to keep this possibility open in the future, please do not try to upgrade to the latest iPhone 3.0. If you don’t care about having your iPhone 3G unlocked and don’t think it will be necessary in the future neither then you can.
The reason is as many will know the baseband that iPhone Dev Team’s iPhone 3G unlock application works with gets upgraded once you click on the firmware update button. This to date is still not reversible.
The iPhone Dev Team also warns that using the recently released unofficial QuickPwn is dangerous, yes it may offer a jailbreak solution for those who have updated to the latest 3.0 Beta 2 but it may bring with it serious consequences:
That’s because QuickPwn, by its very nature, requires you to already have accepted Apple’s official IPSW, along with its baseband update. If you do that, you will (possibly forever) lose your ability to software-unlock your iPhone 3G.
It doesn’t look like the iPhone Dev Team will be releasing or updating their existing tools anytime soon, mainly because its unecessary for firmwares in beta which already itself contains lots of bugs.
That’s right folks, as you will probably know stereo bluetooth profile (A2DP) will be coming to the new iPhone OS 3.0 which will probably be due later in the summer. The video below demonstrates this new digital technology which will allow you to stream via bluetooth your music on your iPhone to your favourite bluetooth compatible speakers or headphones for music play.
