Acynic would argue that the Gran Turismo franchise achieved perfection long ago, but we are sticklers for the series. As time goes on and generations fly by, we become ever keener to see how the world’s bestselling racing series can better itself. After sampling GT5 Prologue, however, it looks as if the changes won’t actually apply to the realistic racing that GT is renowned for, but rather the periphery aspects of this reenergized driving simulator.
Vicki Butler-Henderson from Fifth Gear takes the all new Ferrari California hardback convertible (yes, Ferrari’s first!) out for a road test. This supercar is powered by a monsterous 4.3L V8 engine providing the California with 453hp, it’s also got the new F1 style 7-speed dual clutch transmission behind the steering wheel.
Watch the video after the jump…
Check out this video as Fifth Gear test drive expert Vicki Butler-Henderson takes the new 2009 Honda Jazz (or Fit as it’s called now), out on the road for a test drive challenge: as a cyclist support group vehicle. The Honda Jazz is known, not just in the UK, but I think US and other countries too, for its superior reliability and comfort as a supermini and I think if you’re considering getting one of these, you should have a look at this video.
Check out this new offspring! Possibly the only car in the world they say, that’s taller than it is long. It’s the romantic product of the popular city car SmartForTwo and the monster truck, Unimog. Of course, the Smart’s 600cc engine has been replaced with a 5.6L diesel giving it a boost up to 84 bhp, with an upgraded six-speed gearbox, this badboy is capable of up to 30 mph. Equipped with custom 26″ wheels, the SmartForTwo has been elevated to 65 cm above its normal ground level.
This is really recent stuff, from the current new series of Fifth Gear, Tiff Needell who is the only qualified scuba diver presenter had the once in a lifetime opportunity to test out the Rinspeed sQuba. It was previously announced back in February, but at that time, the only ones who had tested it were people from Rinspeed but now it’s finally opened up for other people to try it out.
Many attempts in the past have man tried to create something like this, so many concepts in the past and very few have succeeded, the sQuba is the only concept that has become a working reality. The prototype featured, drives on land, on water and under water! Costing as much as £750,000, it’s not something that anyone can buy nevertheless here’s the video, if you’re a fan of cars then you definitely will enjoy this!
Hey lads, here’s some weekend entertainment for those who like to get their hands dirty and I mean really dirty: an off road challenge with my favourite rugby player Phil Vickery!
In this Fifth Gear video, Phil and Jason races against the clock on a 4×4 off road course using a £22 grand Mitsubishi L200 (pickup truck, but a really fancy one), guess who wins?
