Just an update anyone who has recently checked out our Roundup: Two Three ways to downgrade iPhone 3G baseband. We’ve updated the article because there is now an even better, simplier method does downgrades your iPhone 3G’s baseband back down from 02.30 to 02.28 allowing you to unlock your iPhone 3G using yellowsn0w for use with any network.


As you can see in the screenshots above, this new tool called 3G Fuzzyband Downgrader automatically checks your bootloader version to make sure it is 5.08 and then downgrades your iPhone 3G’s baseband for you seaminglessly.

Update (04/11/2009): Those who have 05.11.xx baseband but have not been able to use fuzzyband’s baseband downgrader due to various reasons including non-supporting bootloader version should have a look at a new unlock tool released for the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS by Geohot. Finally, at last! A baseband downgrade tool for iPhone 3G. Readers who are iPhone 3G users who unexpectedly and accidentally upgraded their iPhone 3G’s baseband during the iPhone firmware 2.2.1 update will be happy to know that ModMyi (not the iPhone Dev Team) have come up with a tool that claims to downgrade your iPhone’s baseband from 02.30.03 back to 02.28.00.
