It seems that the gold standard Flash web video player might get replaced in near future, and its successor is coming from DivX. DivX has developed a new technology that will allow DivX to replace the standard Flash video player, but does this latest technology have what it takes to replace Flash web video player?
Only have a short while since we last posted the LG Viewty Smart GC900‘s video, LG have now announced its availability in the UK.
Just to recap for those who may not have heard about the Viewty Smart. It can be considered as the second generation of the original highly successful LG Viewty, five megapixel camera phone. Like the Viewty, Viewty Smart focuses heavily on mobile photography, boasting a three inch WVGA display and equipped with an eight megapixel camera with LED flash. Full press release to follow after the jump.
We reported about the Panasonic one-inch thick plasma LCD Z1 last month, further details have now been officially published in the press release after the jump. However, as you will know, the Z1 wasn’t cheap at all, the official press release below still hasn’t addressed as to what the price tag on this badboy will be.
Due to be released later this year, Toshiba’s SV series super skinny tv’s are what they claim to be “the most advanced Toshiba LCD TV model ever to launch” in the UK. Why? Because technology wise, these tellies sport Active Vision M200HD picture processing and an RGB LED backlight. Available in 46 and 55 inches, each model also gets a digital tuner, Toshiba’s MetaBrain engine which gives you Dolby Volume that promises even sound, DLNA technology, a game mode and four HDMI InstaPort ports.
The new SV series is also capable of playing mp3 and DivX videos via usb (with the DivX content upscaled too) and gets an SD card slot for viewing jpegs, what can’t this badboy do? Suggested to be released by August this year, these tellies will definitely be on the high end in terms of pricing, that might not be so good for this time of the year! Check out the quick video by after the jump…

When we were sent the LG Renoir KC910 for some hands on review, we were already well impressed with LG’s ability to have made such major all round multimedia improvements in the new LG Viewty successor. But now it seems LG’s plans are official and they will be taking that even further for the coming 2009. As you will have heard, just last week, a picture of a new full touchscreen phone, the LG Arena KM900 surfaced. We can now be fairly confident that this is true and this latest flagship called the LG Arena will have some very stunning features and even more so, some features which have not yet even been seen on mobile phones (not that I know of)! The LG Arena will have a unique user interface that takes the form of a 3D cube. This new cube-based layout provides four customisable home screens for direct access to all features. This makes accessing music, movies, pictures much more easier than most phones, so if you thought the LG Renoir’s updated user interface already showed vast improvement, the LG Arena’s user interface will definitely strike you as something quite unique.
Though we don’t know all about its specs at the moment, this will be revealed in greater detail in due course – Mobile World Congress, February 16th at 2.00pm (CET). All we do know from our friends at the LG Blog is the below, though I wish I could find out more about whether its got an amazing camera sooner!
Looks like Toshiba also wants to be apart of the touchscreen phone gang. Completely out of the blue? Well, no. It appears Toshiba has been working on it and to reveal their latest TG01 ahead of the upcoming Mobile World Congress also seems like a plan so that everyone will have had it stuck in their heads and thinking about it even before seeing all the new tech other brands will have to offer at the world congress.
