Panasonic last week officially launched their new Lumix DMC-GF1, its third Micro Four Thirds camera at the IFA in Berlin. Claimed to be thw world’s smallest and lightest possible DSLR camera with built in flash, the GF1 comes in three colours – red, white and black and has a retro-like thin body design that challenges that of the Olympus E-P1 “PEN”.
Thanks to you guys who sent in the press release on the launch of Samsung’s new dual LCD cameras TL220 and TL225. Both cameras sport a 1.5″ front mini LCD great for those who like self-portraits, the dual are both based on a 12.2 megapixel sensor with 4.6x optical zoom capable of 720p quality video recording, the only slight difference is that TL225 has a larger 3.5″ rear LCD touchscreen display.

Nikon has just announced the new Nikon Coolpix S1000pj – the world’s first digital camera to include a built-in digital projector. The idea is to allow users to enjoy the pleasure of a ‘personal go-anywhere theatre and to introduce a fun new way to share pictures with friends and families.’

Kodak has announced the latest Zi8, which is a new pocket size HD video camera / camcorder. Zi8 is probably their best pocket video camera so far. It features Flip Ultra HD with 1080p recording, an electronic image stabilizer and a SDHC card slot. It is basically an improved version of is predecessor, the Zi6.

Only have a short while since we last posted the LG Viewty Smart GC900‘s video, LG have now announced its availability in the UK.
Just to recap for those who may not have heard about the Viewty Smart. It can be considered as the second generation of the original highly successful LG Viewty, five megapixel camera phone. Like the Viewty, Viewty Smart focuses heavily on mobile photography, boasting a three inch WVGA display and equipped with an eight megapixel camera with LED flash. The LG Viewty Smart carries on the heritage of the first LG Viewty which was one of the first full touchscreen mobiles to sport a five-megapixel camera and direct video upload onto YouTube. Main features of the new LG Viewty Smart GC900 include an 8 megapixel sensor with sensitivity up to ISO 1600, a higher resolution WVGA touchscreen, a more intelligent image processor and LGs easy-to-use S-Class User Interface (UI).

Straight after the Easter long weekend, Nikon has now announced the recently much rumored D5000. With a 2.7-inch articulating display, the D5000 is equipped with a 12.3 megapixel DX-format sensor that maxes out at ISO 3200 with a 4fps burst rate, sports one-button Live View, and 720/24p movie mode. Other features include an 11-point AF system with 3D focus tracking and 19 scene modes. With a number of high end features, the price tag is pretty heavy as well, the D5000 will cost $849 with a 18-55 VR kit lens, or $729 for just the body – not surprisingly, this price tag is just under that of the Canon T1i.
