Its finally official, the LG GD900 Crystal was announced by LG yesterday here in the UK. For those of you who have been emailing in, the release will be on the 1st of July, only at the Carphone Warehouse.
We are obviously very excited about this, most of you interested will probably have seen the video of the GD900’s Crystal Touchpad in action. Its the first of its kind and no doubt making the Crystal one of the most elegant LG phones ever.
Just to recap, the LG GD900 will come with LG’s latest S-Class user interface as well as excellent specs including eight megapixel camera, 3″ full touchscreen, WiFi, Bluetooth as well as support for up to 32GB of external memory making the GD900 another excellent all round multimedia camerphone.
We’ve just received some news tip from one of our readers that they’ve spotted the LG GD900 Crystal on the Carphone’s coming soon section. The Carphone who are usually very accurate with their dates have slated the LG GD900 Crystal to arrive in mid-May this year. You may remember that it was first thought the GD900 actually had a crystal made transparent keypad, this has been proven to be glass. Nevertheless we look forward to trying it out as this will be the first ever to be seen on a mobile and as we’ve featured before in some videos, this keypad sports some interesting features.
While in the middle of reviewing our recently received Arena, we came across this video of the GD900 which was demoed at the CTIA last week. Some of you may already be aware that the keypad isn’t actually “crystal”, but what we just learnt as well was that the transparent keypad also acts as a touchpad for typing, recognising gesture input and controlling the new S Class user interface. So not only is the LG GD900 going to be the world’s first transparent keypad mobile but dare I say also one with a touch sensitive keypad that doubles up as a secondary input component?
LG is increasing the buzz on its 13.4mm thick GD900 handset ahead of the upcoming CTIA Wireless Show 2009. The GD900 which you will recall was first shown at the MWC 2009, Barcelona. Its been said that this time, the 7.2 HSPDA slider with world’s first transparent glass (not plastic folks!) keypad will be functional, running LG’s new S-Class UI on the three inch display. GD900 features a vibrational haptic feedback and the transparent keypad seems to double as a touch-sensitive mouse pad. The GD900 will be available in Europe and Asia in May.
The LG GD900 Crystal which LG debuted at the GSMA World Congress, will be the world’s first phone with a transparent design handset. Not everything on the slider handset is transparent but the rear slider is translucent and the keypad gives off a brilliant glittering glow. Specs on technical details on the LG GD900 was limited, but LG will make sure to bring out the specs for review later this year.
