Though it may seem abit harsh to decide to buy or not to buy the new iPod Nano just on the quality of its video camera, the folks at NewTeeVee have just done a comparison with a Flip camcorder to see what the differences are. I suppose these days, we all what to compare and get the most out of every pence we spend! One problem with this comparison though, they haven’t mentioned which Flip they’ve used just “SD” so it could be Mino or Ultra.
“Overall — the Flip offered a MUCH better picture both indoor and out, providing way more detail in the image. The Flip microphone was also a little more discerning in our test, able to distinguish our subject’s voice in a crowded room much better than the Nano.”

Kodak has announced the latest Zi8, which is a new pocket size HD video camera / camcorder. Zi8 is probably their best pocket video camera so far. It features Flip Ultra HD with 1080p recording, an electronic image stabilizer and a SDHC card slot. It is basically an improved version of is predecessor, the Zi6.

Sony has announced the development of its super tiny penny-like high definition (HD) camera module. Already now entering mass production, the latest in digital technology MCB1172 8.3-megapixel camera module is astonishingly small, smaller than a £1 coin measuring in at just 9.5 x 7.1 mm. Likely to turn up in a range of products later this year, the potential for Sony’s future products to have HD recording capability is overwhelming.
The MCB1172 from Sony Europe’s Image Sensing Solutions Division will have the ability to deliver 720p, at 30fps, it further includes movie stabilisation, face detection, autofocus and motion autofocus. There’s also a high sensitivity mode and a slow-mo function, delivering 120fps as well as the option of 16x zoom.

Samsung first showed off their latest HMX-H106 full HD SSD camcorder back at the CES earlier this year, now its officially available worldwide. To refresh your memory, The HMX-H106 features 10x Optical Zoom with Schneider’s Varioplan-HD lens, full HD (1920 x 1080) with Time Lapse (interval recording) mode in 720p, a 4.7 megapixel (2880×1620) CMOS for still photos, a Schneider Wide angle lens offering a wide angle view of 37 mm and a 64GB SSD (and SD card slot) which should make it quite pleasant and quiet for filming.
