Just recently revealed by Panasonic, tips so far suggests that pricing for the Panasonic TC-P54Z1 will at least be an awesome $5,999.95 when it begins shipping in June. It’s a huge 54-inch, only one inch thick and has got HDMI. Function wise, the Z1 sports a native contrast ratio of 40,000:1, 24Hz Cinematic Playback and THX Certification. The wireless HDMI box included within will read video and audio from your DVD, Blu-ray or Media Center PC to the HDTV, in addition the Z1 also has VIERA Link Internet connectivity and a VIERA Link SD card reader too. Just earlier on this month Sony started including their interactive BD-Live video editing functionality within their Blu-ray discs. And the first movie title to be equipped with this is the Step Brothers, you know the one featuring Will Ferrell and John Reilly. Anyway, we’re not here to talk about the actors, what’s so cool about this new function within Blu-ray discs is that the Step Brothers disc includes a ‘Boats N Hoes’ music video editor, allowing you to quickly put together your very own version of the video used in the film, using clips from the movie, kind of like creating your very own clip classic. Once you’re done, you can upload the video using your BD-Live connection to share with friends and check out other people’s efforts online.

Philips has officially unveiled its super wide widescreen TV in the UK on Thursday as it attempts to offer something different to consumers aside from just another thin TV set.
The new model, called Cinema 21:9, will for the time being only come as a 56-inch model which will offer a 21:9 ratio screen. The result means that movies shot in the 2.39:1 format will completely fill the screen.
Pioneer’s fine technology never fails to impress, it has just unveiled a new type of 16 layer optical disc that is capable of storing up to 400GB worth of data! Of course, it’s based on Blu-ray Disc (BD) but with an added additional material of reflective layers by Pioneer. The specs of the pick-up head (PUH) remains the same as those for blank BD discs, meaning to say the Pioneer discs can be read by BD players currently in the market. Pioneer will be releasing the read-only (ROM) 400GB discs perhaps anytime between now and 2010, while the rewritable 400GB discs will arrive abit later between 2010 and 2012. It’s said a further 1TB capacity will eventually turn up in 2013!
