At the IFA 2009, Sony has unveiled their latest addition to the VAIO family. The VAIOX is a half-inch thin ultraportable laptop with an 11.1-inch screen, despite the lack of official full specs at the moment Sony has said that the VAIO X is set to further push the battery life limit amongst laptops.
With this in mind, the VAIO X is likely to pack an Atom processor but the price of this new lappie along with its well equipped luxurious body kit, it won’t surprise us too much should the pricetag be abit on the heavy side.
Just last week we reported about Nokia’s next big plan to entering the portable netbook computing arena and now we have further specs and info for those who have been fascinated. The Nokia Booklet 3G has been claimed to pack 12 hours of battery life with a whole host of impressive hardware.
Intel Atom Z530 1.6GHz processor, 1GB of DDR2 533 MHz RAM, a 120GB 1.8 inch 4200 RPM SATA hard drive with 8MB of cache, and a 10.1 inch LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720…
Last week Sony announced the launch of their next in the line Alpha series DSLR cameras, the Alpha 500 and 550 (see the press release after the break). To be out from the end of October this year, the DSLR-A550 and DSLR-A500 digital SLRs are based around new CMOS sensors with added manual focus confirmation live view mode using the main imaging sensor, in addition to Sony’s secondary-sensor Quick AF live view system.
Both cameras feature Sony’s better noise reduction, include an Auto HDR mode and offer sensitivity of up to ISO 12800. The 14.2 MP A550 features a higher resolution 921k dot 3″ tilt-angle LCD, while the 12.3 MP A500 comes with a 230k dot resolution 3″tilt-angle LCD.The pictures below are the first hands on photos taken with the Alpha 500 by the folks over at Pocket Lint.
Though stepped up and improved, I think its a smart decision for Sony to keep the tilt-angle LCD as I have personally found it too useful when I tested previous models myself. See more photos after the jump… Continue reading »
Nissan’s second attempt (after the Altima Hybrid) to actually become known as a green(ish) automaker in America? The Nissan Leaf is a four-to-five seat, front-drive C-segment hatchback.
Nissan’s main selling point for the Leaf is not just that its a specialty urban runabout, but rather, it was designed as an everyday vehicle that meets the needs of 70% of the world’s motorists. Strictly speaking, we think Nissan’s perspective has been based upon practicality (though important) more than the needs of motorists in terms of exterior design.
From Nissan’s point of view, Nissan says that fully 80% of US drivers travel less than 100km per day (62 miles), making the Leaf a solid fit for America’s motoring majority, even taking into account power-sapping external factors like hilly terrain, accessory draw, and extreme temperatures.
