Is there anything that ASUS can’t do or won’t try to do? Who knows, though the origami fold / unfold laptop concept featured below may just be another out of the blue, pure imagination, it certainly isn’t one we would want to miss. I wonder what else goes on in their creative minds…

With the success of ASUS’s Eee PCs, its no surprise that they have further prepared themselves and for us a series of new addition to their pc lineup for this year’s CES. The one pictured is the new Asus T91, yes it does have a convertible 8.9″ touch screen and it is a netbook, that for me is already an excellent combination! But there’s bound to be more info on it when it gets announced later on, it weighs in at just 2lbs, 1″ thick and runs on Intel Atom processor.

Bulky mod: ASUS Eee touchscreen tablet

On January 5, 2009, in Geeky, Laptops / Computers, by Admin Staff

A keen tech savvy Japanese modder used the touchscreen kit for Eee and modified his ASUS Eee netbook into a fully working touchscreen tablet pc.

It took about 10 whole hours and $120 to complete but the finishing looks fab, only one problem though, this particular Eee is no longer as portable and convenient to carry as other typical Eee’s! The mod is complete with a transparent casing accented with aluminum foil, check out the pictures in the gallery below…

ASUS unveils new Eee Box desktop computer B203

On December 16, 2008, in Laptops / Computers, by Admin Staff

Asus has recently introduced it’s latest version of the Eee Box desktop PC called the B203. As you will be able to imagine, the Eee Box B203 is a low powered desktop computer just like the rest in its sereis and not a super computer that emits tons of CO2. Running only on Intel C220 Celeron processor, it is light on carbon footprint but also in terms of weight, weighing in at just 2.2 lbs!

The machine runs Windows XP Home, and has the option of an 80GB, 120GB, or 160GB hard drive. There’s 4 USB ports, a flash card reader, Ethernet, Wifi and a DVI port.

The entire desktop is small – it weighs a mere 2.2 pounds. It’s design is nearly identical to the previous versions, and is wite, with circular designs on the side, and the now-popular Eee branding.

If you didn’t fancy the ASUS laptop with built-in projector we featured at the beginning of this month then you might turn your head to considering this. Samsung has recently been displaying the P400 ‘pocket imager’ at the infoComm08 in Las Vegas and have been described by many as palm sized (measuring in at 5 inches wide by 3.7 inches deep and 2 inches high, weighs approx. 1.9 pounds). Well you can see for yourself in the pics below whether it really is as small as that, but one thing is for sure it has some proper built-in qualities.

The P400 is equipped with DLP technology (digital light processing), and has a native resolution of 800 x 600 SVGA. With 1,000:1 contrast ratio, the pocket imager has 150 ANSI lumens providing a crisp, clear 30-40-inch diagonal image even when it is used in a well-lite office environment. Other functions include RGB, Composite-In, S-Video and audio-in (RCA L/R) rear inputs. The P400 utilies LED technology which gives a much better and longer lifespan of up to 30,000 hours, thus there is no projector lamp / bulbs to worry about. The mini projector also features a built-in mini speaker, great for featuring presentations that involve showing quick videos.

The whole P400 package comes with a remote control, power cables and a sliding lens cap (see pictures below). Though it does cost a hefty $749 USD, I can imagine this being an extremely convenient tool to have around in your car or possibly if your laptop case was large enough, having one of these as a businessmen will definitely inspire your professionism!

This new ASUS laptop hidden away quietly at a corner over at the Computex may not look to be equipped with very advanced technology on the outside, but when you look closely it’s actually projecting images onto the screen opposite to it. Projectors are getting smaller and smaller, which makes them very convenient to be handled wherever you need your presentation to take place, but never have they been incorporated into products such as laptops, this new laptop from ASUS is certainly a first. At this moment, there is limited information regarding its other internal hardware but I’m sure this will come in the near future.

Like many sites have already commented, the idea of this integration is great, it will definitely open up a new market for future laptops, maybe in the future, single piece projectors will become a thing from the past. Meanwhile though, much work still needs to be done as the quality of these projectors are not brilliant. As you can see, though it cleverly rotates and hides away as the lid of the laptop closes away, the projector itself does take up a massive chunk of space above the screen when you open up its lid, which cosmetically for some people is a no no!
