Solar airplanes are not thing of the future anymore, but as you know, they aren’t as fast as the standard airplanes that we use every day. Therefore EADS have proposed a new airplane called Zero Emission Hypersonic Transportation (ZEHST).
In today’s world, being eco-friendly is an important factor, and speaking of which, the first solar airplane has just successfully completed its first international flight.
The world’s first electric airplane comes from Sonex and we can say that it looks promising. Of course, electric airplanes aren’t as safe as electric cars or bikes, especially if you run out of power in mid air, so we’re doubting that we’ll see them anytime soon as passenger aircrafts, but that doesn’t mean that electric airplanes do not exist and that they don’t work.
Though Apple’s latest iOS 4 application FaceTime still doesn’t work over 3G, it works great on an airplane’s in-flight WiFi as demonstrated by a reader of TUAW.
