We’re very jealous, the folks over at Pocket-Lint recently got to play with the Acer Aspire Revo nettop which should already be out in the shops near you (since 5th of May). The Aspire Revo nettop is unique as its one of the first of its class to be equipped with new Nvidia ION chips allowing its Intel Atom powered core to display 1080p footage as well as playing games in 3D.
As you will see in the pictures, if you opt for the third option with a pricetag of £299.99 (options here). You’ll get to mount your Aspire Revo onto the back of your PC monitor using its VESTA mount and receive a wireless bar shaped game pad (will cost about £50 on its own) which looks much like that of the Wii’s.

Asus is releasing a new nettop called the EeeBOX B208, expected to arrive in June 2009, and could pose as a new competitor to the Acer Aspire Revo. Asus EeeBOX B208 weighs only 1kg measuring at just 222 x 178 x 26.9mm. Using only 36W power consumption, it is powered by Intel’s Atom 330 processor with ATI Radeon HD 4350 256MB video card. The EeeBOX B208 features 1GB RAM, a 160 GB hard drive and a 10GB Eee Storage. Other specs include bluetooth, built in card reader SD/SDHC/MS/MS Pro/MMC, WiFi, 4 USB ports, HDMI out, DVI-D port and a built in battery with UPS function. As you can see, these specs are exactly what the Aspire Revo has and even more.

The hugely popular NVIDIA Ion-platform based Acer Aspire Revo recently got unboxed by the folks over at Engadget. Despite being a Mac user, I too wanted to see how well this rather portable nettop design by NVIDA-Acer works. Unfortunately, it was only an engineering sample which Engadget have commented that it could be “buggy”, so far they haven’t yet updated any further info on its performance. Nonetheless, its looking good and we reckon it should live up to its expectations so far.
The new Nvidia Ion- Platform Acer Aspire Revo is now available for pre order, not surprisingly through the popular online shopping giant – Play.com (in the UK). Four different packages of specs to choose form, price tag of the Acer Aspire Revo ranging from GBP £179.99 (USD $267) to GBP £329.99 (USD $400). While its possible to pre order now, the official release date of the Aspire Revo will be 18th May 2009.
