Hey lads, here’s some weekend entertainment for those who like to get their hands dirty and I mean really dirty: an off road challenge with my favourite rugby player Phil Vickery!
In this Fifth Gear video, Phil and Jason races against the clock on a 4×4 off road course using a £22 grand Mitsubishi L200 (pickup truck, but a really fancy one), guess who wins?
Hi everyone, got some cool and freaky robots to show today. Modular robots are probably not the latest in robotics but they are getting more and more advanced as research goes further. Modular robots are basically robots that are resilient to damage, if you break them apart, they reassemble themselves back together! For me, the theory is abit difficult to understand but from the NewScientist video, it’s explained and it sure is a joy to watch.
The video shows ckBot, from the University of Pennsylvania, Modular Robotics Lab demonstrating the principle…
They are abit slow when it comes to rebuilding themselves back together, but they remind me of worms when they get cut into sections, they each wriggle about on their own (but worms don’t reassemble themselves back together though!).
The Dream DX dogbot is one of the latest addition of Sega Toys, which is able to recognize and respond to as many phrases as a real dog can do – so they say. It can move its eyes, mouth, head, tail and even to play fetch and lie down like a real one. It is a quite fun to have and would be an excellent gift to any children.
It will be first on sale soon in Japan for around $270.

Qtrax.com which launched two days ago, is the first, free and legal P2P music download application ever. In case you haven’t tried it yet, they contain over 23 million songs in their database, compare to around 3 million for Amazon and 6 million for iTunes. It is so popular that the service is “currently unavailable” (the last time I checked).

Qtrax is free and legal because it has signed all four major music labels: EMI, SonyBMG, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group. Therefore, they have the right to allow people to download online.

To tackle to this issue, ATP Electronics has teamed up with American Forest Partnership to produce an environment friendly USB memory stick called EathDrive. I came across this USB gadget while I was searching for a birthday present for my friend. This is called “stealth switch”, which claims to be “the worlds first desktop cloaking device”. I think this is perfect for those like my friend who sits next to his boss’s office.
Features:
This device can be hidden and controlled under your desk! With its 6″ USB cable, its foot tap button can be placed “hiddenly” under your foot. Once the foot tap is stepped, the following functions can be activated according to your preset options:
- To switch or hide your current window/ all windows instantly.
- You can preset to bring up a preferred window at all times.
- Password to protect your computer.
- Mute sound,etc…

One of the most attractive function is that it can hide all applications you are running, ie Office documents, download windows, browsers, video and audio players and instant messengers as well. You don’t have to turn off the monitor or do mouse clicks anxiously when your boss walks past.
It sounds like an interesting invention, get it now at Play.com delivered, for only £9.99!
