Yesterday, Sony Ericsson announced the new Xperia ZR, an Android smartphone which is expected to feature the highest level of water-resistance for capturing photos and Full HD videos underwater. This Android smartphone offers leading technology and content with a 4.6” HD Reality display, 13 megapixel fast capture camera, Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ S4 Pro quad-core 1.5 GHz processor, and 4G LTE.
While its looks may not appear as though it could be thrashed about and as rugged as other gadgets we’ve seen, Sony Ericsson claims the Xperia ZR to be dustproof and waterproof, able to remain submerged as deep as 1.5m for up to 30 minutes.
What’s striking from its press images is it super-sharp 4.6” HD Reality Display powered by Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 using the contrast enhancement technology which is taken from Sony’s range of BRAVIA TVs. This together with the beautifully designed OptiContrast™ panel, delivers a beautiful high quality viewing experience. This together with its Full HD camera, Sony Ericsson believes the Xperia ZR will be a breakthrough in underwater mobile photo capturing and HD video recording.
