DIY: Angry Birds Slingshot USB controller

On March 15, 2012, in Gaming, Geeky, by Mike Jefferson

If you own a smartphone or tablet, you must’ve played or at least heard about Angry Birds, and if you’re an Angry Birds fan, today we have special controller for you that is designed especially for Angry Birds.

Playing Angry Bids with your finger or mouse gets a bit boring after a while, and if you’re bored with the way you play Angry Birds, Simon Ford has a special controller for you. Simon Ford has managed to turn an ordinary slingshot into a USB controller that works with Angry Birds. In order to connect his custom-made controller with the game, Simon used an accelerometer that measures the tilt of the slingshot along with the “rubber stretch sensor” that measures the length of the rubber when you pull it back. When data collection is finished, the data will be transferred and mapped to your computer mouse via standard USB connector.

This custom-made slingshot controller is great, if you’re an Angry Birds fan, and if you want your Angry Birds slingshot USB controller, Simon Ford was kind enough to leave official instructions on his website.
