We all know that iPhone is a useful device that comes with all sorts of capabilities and accessories, so it’s no wonder to see that iPhone and its accessories will be used by police to identify the suspects.

According to the reports, this accessory is smart enough to identify suspects while looking up a criminal records so it can be quite helpful to the police officers in in the process of catching the criminals. In order for police officers to use this device, they’ll need a picture of a person’s face or iris for identification, and that’s all.

This device is called Mobile Offender Recognition and Information System (MORIS). It connects to iPhone that shoots photos of the suspect before retrieving the results. As for the accuracy of this device, it relies on 130 attributes before making identification, but there’s also a fingerprint scanner included as well.

We have to mention that facial recognition feature works from a range of 2 to 5 feet. As for the price of this device, an entire device costs about $3000, so we doubt that every police officer on the street will have one.

Wow. I thought this would be a software only. If it’s a $3000 device, I think it can make a difference out of law enforcement. But does it do anything in terms of retrieving data? It can recognize faces and make data out of it. But how about the ones with criminal records already? That would be a great feature to add to help the officers identify what kind of criminal they’re dealing with and what charges does he face in line with his previous violations.
