We already know that robots can do all sorts of amazing things, but this latest robot can actually use a pencil and draw. This robot, or machine to be precise, is designed by Harvey Moon, and it’s the winner of a ‘Maker Faire Editor’s Choice’ ribbon. Harvey Moon created the Drawing Machine that can take black and white JPEG images and draw them onto a piece of paper.

As for the system behind the Drawing Machine, it uses custom software that runs on Arduino. To make each drawing unique and different, Harvey Moon added a certain amount of randomization in the code, therefore two same images will always be sketched in a different way.

So far, Harvey Moon’s Drawing Machine draws only black and white pictures, but there’s no reason for a future ‘Drawing Machine 2′ to be able to sketch in colour.
