Today we have an app for the iPhone that unlocks your phone using face detection tech. This latest application is called RecognizeMe, and it scans your face with the front facing camera of your phone in order to unlock your iPhone 4 – hence earlier iPhones won’t be able to use this feature.

Unfortunately, if you want to use the RecognizeMe app you’ll have to jailbreak your phone first as it is currently not available from the App Store. So how does it work? This app isn’t perfect, so others may be able to unlock your phone with their face. In addition, we have to mention that this app has settings for verification threshold, but even with the higher verification threshold, your iPhone isn’t perfectly safe. Another downside of this app is its speed, and according to the results it takes 5-15 seconds, sometimes even more to just unlock your phone, so if you want to try it, you’ll have to arm yourself with patience.

RecognizeMe looks to put any willing iPhone user into the shoes of 007, but its far from perfect, and if you want to try it, you’ll need to jailbreak your iPhone and purchase it for $7.
