Windows 7 is the leading OS in the US
After more than a year since its release, Windows 7 has now achieved one important milestone, at least in the US.
According to the latest results, it appears that Windows XP isn’t the dominant operating system in the United States anymore and the throne has been claimed by Windows 7. According to the results, the ten-year-old operating system lost its market share in April 2011 and Windows XP currently holds 31.56% of the market share.
Although Windows 7 is now the dominant operating system in United States, it is barely in front of Windows XP with 31.71% of market share. As for the third place, it is reserved for Windows Vista which holds 19.07% of the market, while fourth place goes to Mac OS X with 14.87%. Last but not least is Linux with only 0.7% of the market share.
Anyhow, this is a great milestone for Windows 7, it really goes to show how successful its been compared to Windows Vista.

What the heck is “other”??? FreeBSD?? Outside of Windows and Mac OS. Linux is the absolute popular “OTHER” desktop OS. Because there are thousands of versions. It is completely free in every sense of the word. To copy, change, share, and everything else. Unless you can put a name to some of these “Other” OS’s. Please just assume they are Linux. As although there are many FreeBSD users and they are all very intelligent and passionate about their OS for many good reasons. The percentage of Linux users GREATLY out numbers FreeBSD. Everyone computer I own runs Linux. I Share it and teach anyone I meet about it. I am not sure where you get your numbers. But I think you need to recheck them.
