Since the release of Windows 7, Microsoft has been working hard on the follow up Windows installment, today we have some new info about it. According to the news that have been going for some time, it seems that Microsoft has begun to ship the first test versions of its new operating system Windows 8, to PC manufacturers.

It seems that Microsoft is putting a lot of effort into Windows 8, and according to leaked news, Windows 8 will have features especially made for tablets. In addition to that, Windows 8 will be the first operating system from Microsoft that will be able to run on low-powered ARM processors which again are usually found in tablets. Additionally, Windows 8 will boast improved designs that will be optimised for touchscreen displays.

So far, the test version will be distributed through Microsoft Connect, a program for privileged beta users, but we’re hoping to see its full release in 2012.
