Lovefilm headed for Sony PS3

On October 13, 2010, in Entertainment Gadgets, Gaming, by Salman

Soon you will be able to watch movies on your Sony Playstation 3. Well, though Sony had initially designed the Sony PlayStation for high end gaming but innovations are part of Sony and they love to experiment. Though people sitting and reading this in the US won’t understand what Lovefilms is but to explain it in short Lovefilm to UK is what Netflix is for America.

If all this goes well then PlayStation owners will soon be watching movies like Avatar on their PlayStations. PS3 owners will have the chance to order movies using the Lovefilm app and they will have the chance to either order the usual DVD or have the movie streamed into their gaming consoles. The app will help the users to curate the movies they have been watching and store a list of game rentals for future use.

Lovefilm is also rumoured to be developing a similar app for YouView, the BBC-backed internet-connected set-top box, due to go on sale early next year. The IPTV service, which is being positioned by its owners, ITV, Channel 4, Five, TalkTalk, BT and the BBC, as the ‘next generation of Freeview’, will allow apps and channels to co-exist on the same TV platform.
