Motorola Defy: New rugged Android smartphone

Ok, Defy might not be a name as glamorous as “Droid” but this new Android phone is soon set to hit the European market. Great thing about Motorola Defy is that it’s a rugged smartphone that provides decent protection besides great hardware specs.

This phone is waterproof, scratchproof and dustproof so it will be perfect for all of those who are always on the go. Speaking about this phone’s toughness, it meets the IP67 standard. Besides its ability to resist physical abuse, this phone offers some interesting specifications as well.

Motorola Defy comes with 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that is made out of Corning Gorilla Glass. This phone is powered by 800MHz OMAP 3610 chip and it comes with 512 MB RAM. As for the operating system, Defy uses Android 2.1 with MOTOBLUR UI. In addition, this phone comes with a five megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, CrystalTalk PLUS dual-mic noise reduction and aGPS/GPS. Defy is using 2 GB of internal storage space and it has support for microSD/SDHC memory cards. As for the connectivity, this phone supports Bluetooth, WiFi 802.11b/g/n and WCDMA/HSDPA 900/2100 and quad-band GSM/EDGE networks.

As you can see, the Motorola Defy will be able to provide its users with hardcore protection but at the same time great specifications. So far, information about pricing remains undisclosed, but as we find out more, we should see this phone available in the European market in the fourth quarter of this current year.
