How many times has it happened that you ended up drying your soaked cell phone (or any other electronic gadget) with rice? Hopefully you are one of the lucky ones who haven’t ever faced rain to extremes that destroys gadgets but for the ones like me who just cannot take care of his gadgets especially when it is raining I think the rice method is an old trick now.

Somehow people in Japan have come up with a high tech method to dry your soaked gadgets and that too for $12 (¥1,000) in 30 minutes.

Some of the Yodobashi Camera shops within the city of Tokyo have already deployed the dryer box in their shops and customers have started to use the services pretty well. The box promises to dry your soaked cell phones (or any other unfortunate gadgets) for just $12 and the process takes not more than 30 minutes.

Nothing has been revealed as to how does this box dry the gadget and if it is by any means harmful for the gadgets or not. All that we know is that the service won’t charge you even a buck if your super wet device doesn’t start working once it is dry. I think that is fair enough for a try if your are living in Tokyo.

Most of the companies don’t cover wet phones in their warranty and the Dryer Box could be one of the best solutions for such situations where you are left hanging nowhere but wet with your phone not working.
