Well, this is what some people out there in Tokyo think. A new concept hotel in Akihabara has come up with a unique (and a bit weird) plan of having installed a complete set of trains with different required accessories so that you don’t feel lonely if you are alone in that room. Firstly, people don’t go to hotels to feel lonely so this project might not interest that genre of visitors but one should remember that there is one loony class of visitors out there that do walk around with nobody around them. This I believe is how this idea came about. The idea of something like a true toy train with lots of stations and stuff around them while they are alone in their hotel rooms can actually distract them and make them ‘happy’ (maybe?)
Please understand that the trains are properly sanitized after each guest leaves henceforth you need not worry about hygiene problems. I am sure you understand the kind of hygiene that I was talking about?
The densha otaku (train spotter) is a powerful consumer in Japan. Railway companies take a lot of trouble to create mascots and whole industries of merchandise, and there are countless goods for sale in station shops around the country.
But this is one step further. The Washington Hotel in Akihabara has created a “railway room” to attract densha otaku guests.
The hotel room costs $265 per night and that isn’t very expensive considering the fact that you love trains a lot. I really mean a lot when I say that, full stop. Because if you don’t then how about taking another room with the heavily occupied trains and playing tennis in it? I agree that I went a bit overboard but if you can have trains then why not something else?
