New Xbox 360 Slim will give you overheating warning

On June 22, 2010, in Gaming, by Mike Jefferson

New Xbox 360 Slim has been out for some time and already we’re seeing first results when it comes to hardware failures. As you know, the new Xbox 360 Slim won’t have infamous Red Ring of Death but instead it has red dot or red eye as some people call it. Red eye doesn’t have to mean that hardware failure has occurred but it means that something is wrong.

Back in the old days Red Ring of Death was something that you didn’t won’t to see on your Xbox 360. Red Ring of Death would take your power button and your Xbox 360 would become almost unusable. Only solution for Red Ring of Death was to purchase a new Xbox 360, or fix it on your own or by taking it to the repair shop.

Now as you surely know, Microsoft announced that it won’t be any Red Rings of Death on the new Xbox 360 S and in order to prevent them, designers have removed all red LED from the front of the console. As you might know, hardware failures are often caused by overheating and in order to warn you that overheating has occurred new Xbox 360 will give you a warning message before it shuts itself in order to prevent damage. It really works like Blue Screen of Death that we face on our computers.

As you can see there’s no Red Ring of Death, but instead we are getting warning message and a flashing power button if it comes to overheating, so that’s an improvement, in a way.

Is it just me or are people kinda missing the point. Even though the console now shuts down 'before' damage is down, couldn't MS have made a console that doesn't overheat in the first place?

Personally I can not believe Alanski. Now it is so convenient to be posting that with out any signs of proof! I think you are just a troll seeking to discourage people from buying a Xbox 360 slim.

Now Mike my thing is this! mine is not over heating but the xbox does get warm when I leave it on for hours on end, I turn it off now but I am wondering is it best to buy those attachable fans? I was told by one person that the fans will cause the red ring of death but I don’t see how that could be if the fans are positioned to take heat out of the case or how does that work, is the fans forcing cool air into the case or extracting heat out of the case?
