How do you fancy being able to see the road on your Android phone sat nav app as you drive without having to worry about running into something or someone as you take your eyes off driving? This is probably one of the greatest advantages of having an augmented reality sat nav. Wikitude have announced the first beta of their augmented reality turn by turn sat nav application for Android smartphones.


As you will see in the video, Wikitude Drive, overlays directions and guidance information on top of a live view of the road ahead because it uses your Android phone’s camera. There are so many advantages to using an application like this, while Wikitude have only made this beta version available to the first 2,000 downloads from the US Android Market, we expect that many more users will want to get their hands on it even if they have to pay. Lets hope we will soon hear more about when this might be available to the rest of the world. For now, endulge on this video…
