Sing Star

This year’s PS3 gaming superstars, Metal Gear Solid and Grand Theft Auto, are both only on iteration number four! Somewhat out there are a lot of people who are no longer satisfied with singing into their shampoo-bottle microphones while showering. And thanks to Sing Star’s new online features, they’re rinsing off their bath-time anonymity for a shot at the big time. Yup, they’re bad as Hell and they’re not going to hide it anymore!

Aside from a more polished presentation, the game itself has changed very little from the PS2 examples. Sing Solo or Duet, or switch to Battle or Pass The Mic mode for some party time Variety and fun. This Sing Star game is the most adept effort thus far in the series, but the core in-game experience is more evolutionary than revolutionary. It works; it’s solid; but it’s difficult to even consider it in the classic gaming sense – it’s more of an interface than an interactive vehicle. Once again there are 30 mostly contemporary songs included that represent a broad range of music genres. Tastes vary, but I’d rate this line-up stronger than average.

Thanks to the new My SingStar online site, PS3 owners can also upload their vocal styling to be, appreciated by a jury of peers. Utilize a Playstation Eye to upload videos and photos of your SingStar performances if you think your audio tracks alone don’t communicate enough of your unique….you-ness. Conservatively speaking, about one-percent of the uploads will truly impressive, another nine-percent will be admirable talented, another 20-percent will be decidedly mediocre, and a full 70-percent will be either intentionally or unwittingly atrocious.
