D-Link revealed as Boxee hardware partner – Boxee Box to arrive in Q2 2010
The news of an actual dedicated hardware based Boxee device was annouced just last month, however at the time Boxee did not spill any news on who will be its hardware partner. The Boxee Box now its officially called is shaped more like a half-submerged cube, boasts HDMI, SD card slot, two USB 2.0 ports, WiFi, and ethernet for internet connectivity.
The Box will allow streaming of online content and storage of digital media to an HDTV. The device allows users to share playlists with friends on various social networking sites, including Twitter and Facebook. The Boxee Box also facilitates educational purposes such as university courses, panel discussions, academic lectures, presentations and web-only videos.
But its not just video content, Boxee Box users can access great music from sites like Pandora, last.fm, shoutcast, and We are Hunted as well as fun photos from sites like flickr, Picasa and the Facebook.
The Boxee Box is expected to be released in Q2 2010 for about $200.
