You guys will probably have heard by now that Google Maps has started moving into the territory of turn by turn navigation. Though its only just in beta, it will be free! A huge setback for sat nav apps in terms of business and popularity. Two problems though, thus far, you can only use it in the US and it is currently only available on Android, but Google has said that it will be developing support for other mobile platforms in the near future.

With Google Maps Navigation, you can search by voice. Speak your destination instead of typing (English only): “Navigate to the de Young Museum in San Francisco”.

On the Google Maps Navigation app, you can just say where you want to go, here’s a demo…

Of course, when you’re in the car, you don’t want to be holding in with hands, so here’s the app’s car docking mode in action, again demonstrated by that iPhone killer Motorola Droid Android phone
