iPhone TomTom app: More features to come soon

Posted on October 13th, 2009 by Editorial Staff in Cell Phones, Softwares and Tools

Launched just over the summer, TomTom has not had the best of start with their new iPhone turn by turn satellite navigation app. With an overall rating on the App Store of just three stars and CoPilot sitting above them on top of the league in Navigations apps, its hefty £59.99 pricetag (and £99 in-car kit) doesn’t help either.

Despite a large amount of unimpressed users thus far, the TomTom app does have features which most users would expect to see from their sat nav, these include IQ Routes which helps you choose the most efficiency route to travel towards your destination, finding places of interest such as restaurants and safety camera and speed warnings.

In addition to the above functions, the TomTom app will soon see an update in which a number of new features will be added. These will include Advanced Lane Guidance, an updated safety camera and speed warning database and possibly TomTom’s HD traffic system.

“I can confirm that these upgrades will feature Advanced Lane Guidance and an updated safety camera database amongst other features…” a spokewomen for the company told Pocket-lint.

Though no date is currently set, this much needed upate is expected to be free to all current customers.
